  • And On That Note…

This photo has nothing to do with this post. Yacht is my father’s new service dog, and we are all very happy he is now part of the family.

I’m awake when I should be asleep. Nothing out of the ordinary in this world of perimenopause – just extremely aggravating when a couple of hours ago I came to bed because of how exhausted I was.

Things are good, and I have nothing that is keeping me from going to sleep (well, that I know of).

I have settled into my role and stepping into projects.

Diving back into legal tech, and exploring all the options and possibilities.

I take my ingestion of news in pieces, because if I don’t it robs me of the small joys.

I bought a bike, and plan on getting back out there after I get a helmet and water bottle holder (I bought my fiance and I new bike bells for the trails).

I’m finally in a place where I am comfortable with the skin I am in.

Yet, as I yawn while writing this post…sleep eludes me.

So, I think I will make myself a cup of tea and pick up a book, in the hopes that I will be able to put my head down soon and rest.

I have so much more to write, I just need get my thoughts sorted.

    See you soon.

  • This Phase of Life is Stupid

    See that smile?

I’m not smiling now. I’m awake and it’s 1:55 am.

I went to sleep at 10:00 pm.

Been awake for an hour. I am so tired, but I can’t sleep.

Even as I am typing this, I am yawning.

I remember being told 8 gazillion things about the upcoming changes in my life when I was in health class in elementary school.

No one prepares you for the changes that come later in life.

    And your options are limited.

I am starting to read The Menopause Manifesto by Dr. Jen Gunter, because I need some answers/guidance/relief.

I’ve been reading Menopause/Perimenopause posts on Reddit.

I’m commiserating with other women, and you know what?

    We’re all tired.

This phase of life IS stupid.

There needs to be more research…more doctors who do not say “Oh well, that’s the stage of life you’re in”.

Because if men had to go through this, you bet the uproar would produce results.

But instead, us “hormonal” women will continue to suffer…out loud…

    Screaming into the void.

  • Awake at 2am

It’s now 3:32am as I type this and I am wide awake.

One cat is legit right beside me purring in my face. The other just went from the chair to underneath my bed.

This will be gross if I don’t go back to sleep.

I am going to blame this on my bladder. If I didn’t have to pee I’d still be asleep.

Why? Why did thou forsake me bladder?

    Ugh.

I’ll probably be awake now for the rest of the day, or I’ll go back to sleep at 5am.

Not sure what is going on in the innermost workings of my brain to keep me awake like this. But it sure is annoying.

Maybe I’m hungry. I should go and make some toast.

But if I do that, will it just keep me awake longer?

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I’m going to make some toast.

Stupid brain (and maybe stomach, definitely bladder).

    Good Morning World….sigh.
